Said Tabet
Dr. Said Tabet is leading the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Strategy within the Office of the CTO at EMC Corporation. He is also serving as the chair of OCEG Technology standards. Prior to joining EMC, Said was a principal consultant in Business Rules, Business Process Automation and GRC. Said is participating and leading standards initiatives within ISO, OMG, W3C, OASIS, CSA, IETF. He is the co-founder of RuleML, co-chair of CSA SME Council and actively involved in LegalRuleML, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Business Rules and Modeling, financial services and healthcare standards. Said is a regular speaker at industry and academic conferences, author and organizer of International workshops.
Arleen Thomas
Chairman, XBRL International Board of Directors
Arleen R. Thomas is Senior Vice President, Member Competency and Development at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Ms. Thomas is responsible for leading teams that support the AICPA's members in public accounting, tax and industry. She is also responsible for the areas of the Institute that provide resources, information and guidance to all membership segments, including publications, CPE and professional conferences.
Ms. Thomas has served in various positions at the AICPA, including Vice President of Professional Standards and Services and Vice President of Self-Regulation and the SEC Practice Section. She joined the AICPA as Director of Accounting Standards, serving as the technical advisor to the U.S. representatives on the International Accounting Standards Committee. Ms. Thomas also represents the AICPA on the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council.
Prior to the AICPA, Ms. Thomas was a senior manager at KPMG LLP in the department of professional practice. She was also a statistical audit specialist and national instructor for the firm's audit and accounting programs.
Ms. Thomas holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado.
Gerald Trites
Jerry is Director of XBRL Canada. He is currently serving on the XBRL International Assurance Committee and previously acted as principal author for the publication “INTERACTIVE DATA: THE IMPACT ON ASSURANCE”, published by XII in November, 2006. More recently, he acted as author of a white paper published by the AICPA and CICA in January, 2013 on “Information Integrity”. Jerry was a tenured full professor at St Francis Xavier University, in Nova Scotia, and Director of the Gerald Schwartz School of Business and Information Systems (2001 – 2002). Prior to that, Jerry was a partner with KPMG.
