Dear XBRL International Friends and Conference Attendees:

On behalf of XBRL International Inc., XBRL Italy and the conference planning committee, I would like to welcome you to the 20th XBRL International conference. We trust you will gain an understanding of the benefits that interactive formats of reporting can bring in terms of transparency and efficiency of communications among market player, regulators and citizens around the world.

XBRL goes well beyond IT and technology. It is much more. We wish to raise the awareness of policy makers, decision takers and data users to XBRL as a universal language which enhances exchange and better understanding of business and financial communications. We have a great event planned with the theme “XBRL: Linking Businesses, Public Regulators, & Citizens”.

This year’s International conference is hosted by XBRL Italy in cooperation with XBRL Europe at the Sheraton Conference centre in Rome. The conference will be highlighted with influential keynote speakers representing worldwide governments, financial institutions, projects and organizations. This year special attention is given to academic research and the contributions in this area to our body of knowledge.

This conference is designed to provide real world examples and demonstrations of how XBRL is improving transparency & reducing the reporting burden around the world in its ten interactive Special Interest Tracks.

I wish to welcome you to Rome, the capital of Italy. I hope you will take some time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city while you are here. No need to remind you of the attractiveness of the food and wine. Our gala dinner, scheduled for Tuesday night, provides the opportunity to join one of the most fabulous palaces of the 15th century. Palazzo Taverna, with its marvelous mixture of architectural styles that have enriched through the decades. This residence of Orsini, cited by Dante in the divina Commedia, will surely be very inspiring.
